Rapeseed (Brassica napus), an annual plant of the cruciferous family. It is a spontaneous amphidiploid hybrid of turpentine and garden cabbage, not found in the wild. It belongs to the genus Cabbage, which also includes garden cabbage, turnip, rutabaga, black mustard, blue mustard and others. It is an oilseed, forage, sideral and melliferous crop. Winter rape and spring rape (kolza) are widespread in culture.
